This tiny 3.5-acre (8.75 acre) estate was created by Bernard Dufouleur in the mid 1970´s. It is located in the famous village of Morey Saint Denis, whose illustrious neighbours are Gevrey Chambertin and Chambolle Musigny. His son, Jean-Marc, took over in 1999 and started by recovering the vineyards that his father rented out. The first “estate-made” wine was the 2000 vintage.
The total wine production is about 15,000 bottles!
In the vineyards, although the methods used are not labeled as organic, Jean-Marc makes sure that he obtains healthy grapes, primarily by the soil cultivation and natural methods. He is currently considering working on 100% natural.
Harvest – patience until maturity, selective picking.
Vinification- 100% full bunches and indigenous yeasts, fermentation with departure at low temperature, light pressing and two extractions. Aged in oak barrels that are not 100% new oak, blending, light filtration.
“Baronne” style bottle, wide shoulder, sommelier style punt, natural cork,
Jean-Marc has just produced his first vintage from a newly acquired plot in Corton. This small, but very beautiful plot has vines over 50 years old and is situated on the east-facing slope. This is not only classified in Rognet and Corton (the only grand Cru red in the Cote de Beaune), but the plot is shared with the prestigious Domaine de la Romanée Conti.
He produces approximately 900 bottles of this Corton Rognet
The estate has a selection of older vintages that are quite rare. These pinots are meant for ageing and they are drinking exceptionally well.
